The benefits of raccoon trapping

Trapping raccoons pre-turkey season can help increase the turkey population. Some larger animals, such as bobcats, will hunt hens. But smaller predators such as raccoons can do more damage to the population by feeding on turkey nests and eggs. These small raccoons can take out up to 15 turkey's in one next, dramatically effecting upcoming hunting seasons. Before trapping you should always know the regulations and trapping seasons for your area. Visit your local DNR website to see your state hunting and trapping laws.
